People of Rajasthan represent a culture which is so different from the rest of the country and yet, so rich. One can witness royalty in every lane of this state. The historical monuments in Rajasthan will take you back in time.
About Rajasthanis :-
The peoples of Rajasthan are well known for their warm , friendly affable nature. They are known as Rajasthanis. Although Rajasthanis are of several sub ethnic groups, the whole Rajasthani community is known as marwaris (“people from Marwar region of Rajasthan”) throughout the Indian subcontinent.
The important communities of Rajasthan are the Rajputs, Jats, Brahmans and the Mahajans. The Rajputs are the martial race, known for their chivalry and valour. The Brahmans were the priests and teachers while the Mahajans are still the backbone of the village economy. The Jats and the Gujars are the agricultural communities.
The Rajasthani peoples are nature loving. They also love their culture very much and also have belief on the Almighty God. There are many sacred temples in Rajasthan which date backs to the medival period. They believe that the neglect of worship will lead to disease, failure of crop and other calamities. The Rajasthani people are also very fond of delicious food. Rajasthani cuisines are very delicious and mouth watering.
Why migrated :-
Look at the conditions a Marwari grew in, with no water, tough climate, and lack of any education. We couldn’t have got a job; trading or starting a business was the only option.
Rajasthanis have made huge sacrifices. Leaving behind family, ancestral houses, the society we lived in for centuries, we have to migrate to far of places in search of livelihood and prosperity.
Entrepreneurship :-
When Marwari left their hometown, any work was never too big or small. Also, in the new region, no one knew us. There was no societal pressure and we could pick up any task that helped us earn a living. We Marwari took advantage of that and earned. We picked up the smallest task to earn… and gradually we met with success and made money.
Marwaris are famous all over India in having emerged as a prominent business community as early as nineteenth century especially during colonial rule. This trading community grew positively under the changes imposed by the British Rule in India. Commercialisation of agriculture and stringent policies initiated the need to pay in cash than in kind. Due to the non-existence of formal financial institution like banks, the Marwaris served as productive moneylenders and provided essential credit required by the public. Increased participation of the Marwaris in trade, banking and commerce has lead to the establishment of this community as a recognised dynamic business group operating across India.
In the world of Marwaris and Banias the word for trust is sakh and it is linked closely to honour. It is a crucial indicator of a merchant’s standing. Sakh is at the heart of creditworthiness and business
integrity and means much more than wealth and financial strength. It is acquired through an unblemished record in honouring obligations, being generous to the needy and having a philanthropic outlook.
A businessman who treats his customers, suppliers and employees fairly will be trusted by the
market, and this in turn will build reputation and market share
Rajasthanis have succeeded because we are hard-working. Where else you would find people walking 5-7 km daily to fetch water. That’s the secret of our tenacity.
Entrepreneurship runs in the blood of Rajasthanis.
